Would you like to know the shows we have set to record on our DVR? You would! All right let me tell you. First off,
“The Bachelor.”
OH MY HECK IT IS TRUE. I have never, not once watched a full episode, until THIS SEASON. I don’t know why I started watching it. Because, I will admit, I thought it was utterly stupid and sort of embarrassing for anyone to admit they actually watch that show. Well I have to say it only took ONE EPISODE, the first one, and I was hooked. YEAH I’m a little embarrassed. WHY? Cause it is so so embarrassing watching people “fall in love” in a couple weeks while everyone makes out with everyone, seriously. And yet it’s like the funnest guilty pleasure I’ve ever had. I even get nervous during every rose ceremony. WHEW, glad I got that out there, now you know my secret, and yes, I will be watching the finale with great anticipation. I MEAN WHO WILL HE CHOOSE TO DATE FOR AWHILE AND THEN BREAK UP WITH?
On the bright side, I have not watched a single episode of “American Idol.” GO ME!
I’m still waiting for this final season of “Lost” to GET TO THE POINT! I am so confused about what time period they are in and what happened when, and these “sideways” flashbacks are making my brain hurt. But I have watched every single episode thus far, I WILL see this through.
Nate and I are totally into “Biggest Loser” for the first time. What is this like the 9th season, I don’t know, and we have never watched it before. I DON’T KNOW WHY. Nate and I both never expected to get so like, emotionally involved. It’s fascinating to watch people lose weight. You know, the right way. I had no idea this show would make me cry. Oh yeah, and if Jillian came at me I think I’d run for my life.
“Amazing Race” just started and we are sooooo excited. This is actually the season Nate and I applied for. Ahem, yep there is another confession, isn’t that funny?? We thought we would give it a shot. So everything they had to do so far we are like, “We could totally do that.” So far I’m rooting for the cowboys.
We love the show that replaced “Monk” (which, by the way, I bawled at the “Monk” series finale, like WHAT THE HECK!) which is “White Collar” and let me just say there is nothing to cry about with Matt Bomer’s face staring at me. . . dude, I can say that, Nate gets to watch Kelly from “Saved By the Bell.” Except she is gettin’ pret-ty old.
Oh and the other shows constantly recording on our DVR? “Iron Chef America” and “Chopped.” I remember in college a couple of roommates would watch cooking shows and I would be like COME ON, COOKING?? Yeah well I ate those words (ha ha!) cause I discovered watching them is like 50 times more entertaining than I thought. And it makes me so hungry. I have to go eat something every time we watch. Nate says his dream is to go to culinary school. My dream is to have my own personal chef. A match made in heaven.
I know we are missing a lot of good shows out there, but this is what we manage to keep up on. Good times. And this is what I blog about on Friday night while my husby is off playing take over the world board games that last for hours and hours with some buddies. May Nate take over everyone. Rootin for you, sweetie.

Happy Birthday Sis!
It's my sister Kimberly's 17th birthday today!!!! I just wanted to dedicate a post to my favorite sister EVER!!
So I had 3 younger brothers already when my mom told us she was going to have another baby. With my 3rd brother (love ya Kenny) I had already been heartbroken that he wasn't a girl. So I was like PLEASE LET THIS ONE BE A GIRL!!!! I wished on stars, I said prayers, yeah I wanted a sister so bad.
And she CAME!! We are 10 years apart, which is PERFECT. I mean, we never fought over clothes, makeup, boys. Sure she would get into my stuff but I loved having a little sister so much I think I was pretty nice about it. I adored her!!! So we've always had a good relationship. Good thing, cause now I have a free babysitter (to make up for all the free babysitting I did for you, Kimberly. ha ha just kiddin!)
I think she liked me too. She drew me a lot of pictures. Here's one.

It actually says, "To Julia" then she crossed it out and wrote "mom & dad" and then crossed THAT out and wrote my name. I was only a LITTLE offended! So funny.
When I left for college and would come home to visit, my youngest siblings made me feel SO special like they missed me so much and it was so awesome when I came home. Since my room had been taken over, I'd stay in Kimberly's and Preston's room. At night, Kimberly would say, "Let's talk about boys." She was like 9! I like that she wanted to confide in me though. So she would tell me her boy stories and I would tell her mine... but she ALWAYS pulled for Nate (who was gone on his mission.) I remember when other boys would call she and Preston would say, "NOOOOOO!!!" She used to write me little letters, too.

"Erika, I love some one different than Ron. I still love ron thou. His name is Tyler he is SO cute. Love you. Love Kimberly. P.S. don't marry eny one but Nate. Done."
CUTE I KNOW! And I'm 95% sure she is talking about Ron as in Ron Weasley!
I think she drew this right before Nate got home...

I can't believe she is 17 now, I mean that is just huge. I feel like I was just 17. 17 is one of those memorable years, filled with drama and heartbreak and craziness and fun. She is beautiful and grown up. I always felt responsible for being a good example for her and I hope I have been. She is a good girl. She is so much cooler than I was at her age, too. Seriously, she is super social and goes for what she wants, I was TOO timid! She is SO goofy and I LOVE that about her. And my kids just love her to death. She is awesome with them, it's like I don't have kids when we go to my parent's because she plays with them and takes care of them. I like this stage cause we are growing out of me being the older sister and her being the younger sister, to just us being friends. I hope we can always be close and hang out all throughout life. LOVE YOU KIMBERS!
Here is a dorky picture of me in 1993, holding my new baby sister!!!

Sweet baby girl!

You had the blondest hair Kimbers!

This is 1999.

2003, at my reception. Isn't this adorable!?!

2005. Kimbers and I were having a sleepover at Nate's and my apartment. The couch we are sitting on is the famous $4 couch. That's right. We found it at the DI for $FOUR DOLLARS. Seriously. All the other couches were at least $25, and we liked this one the best. Maybe it was a misprint. Or maybe someone died on it. Anyway we actually kept it for 4 years. $1 a year. Anyway... back to Kimberly...

2006, holding Jenna.

2006 again. I'm pregnant with Carter.

2007 with Carter.

And Jenna.

2008.

2008... 6 mo. along with Logan.

2009 baby Logan!

She is the best aunt!

My Naked Cowboy
I was working hard, trying to get a looong medical report done, when I notice my little boy running around sporting only his undies and Jenna's cowgirl boots.

Nothing else could have broken my concentration quite like that. Oh yeah, and then Jenna prances into the bathroom across from me and says, "Come on Carter, we have to go to primary!" It made me laugh so hard.
And a while later, he was playing in this.

And when I went upstairs to put them to bed, Jenna was attempting to curl his eyelashes with my eyelash curler.
I swear, just when I think he's ready to be a real boy. . .

Valentine's stuff.
Don't you worry I won't be posting any icky sappy pictures of our stay at Anniversary Inn, which was great, except maybe this one:

Our breakfast! Delivered to our door! Yummy yummy!
But our Valentine's festivities did not end there. Saturday night our ward held a DANCE and I thought it sounded way fun, after all, Nate and I had been to many high school dances, not to mention church dances together. Well we got there and the slow dancing was great, but then those fast songs came on and Nate and I are like, ohhhhh yeah, we don't like dancing. (In front of people.) HOWEVER, we actually did participate in the CONGA LINE. I think we did it wrong, but we tried, people, we tried.

I hope people weren't watching. But we had fun anyway!!!

I need to record this for history: This is the first time I have ever put sponge curlers in Jenna's hair. I know! For me growing up as such a girly-girl I don't know how it has taken me so long to really doll up my own child. It turned out cute!

I like this picture because there is one of me at her age that looks just like this I swear. It's too bad I don't have it to show you, but, just imagine.

We brought some Valentines to my grandma who is in a care center for awhile because she broke her ankle. Holy cow, Logan looks huge there. He is not a little baby anymore. Who is that kid. Sheesh.

The kids had fun going up and down on her totally awesome hospital bed.

They also had fun riding in her wheelchair.

Well Logan just liked eating it.

All right Nate just got home from his basketball game, I can stop boring you and watch LOST!!!!!!!
Nevermind. Nate just accidentally deleted it. I'm not kidding. We are both so mad at him. THANKS A LOT NATE you are fired from being my Valentine. Well at least I know I won't be going to bed confused tonight.

Ohhh children, how I love thee
I just yelled at my kids and had to call Nate in order to calm down. THEY HAVE BEEN NAUGHTY!!! Sometimes they just don’t listen. As much as I’d like to blog about how perfect they are,
They aren’t.
AND GUESS WHAT neither am I.
My heart is still pounding from how MAD I was. Okay, am.
What did they do? Play instead of nap/quiet time. Wow when I write it I feel silly for how mad I got about it, it's not like they spilled a big bag of cereal all over the floor or broke furniture this time. It's just I am TRYING to work on this dang medical transcription-- afternoons are when I try to get A LOT done. I mean, napping is sort of few and far between these days, but they have gotten pretty good at just sitting in their rooms (Carter in our room) just being quiet, looking at books.
Sometimes they play with each other, but I think, as long as they don’t bother me, it’s okay.
But today after telling them 327 times to stay in their rooms and not play and I still hear the pitter-patter of little feet running around upstairs… all right I sort of lost it.
They are both in time-out right now.
Anyway. Such is motherhood.
But guess what, Nate surprised me and in less than an hour he is taking me away for the night for Valentine’s Day.
A NIGHT AWAY! HURRAY!
Sometimes I need reminding that I am not just a mother. I am not just here to cook and clean and rear children.
I’m a wife too!!!! I’m a sweetheart to my sweetheart!
I LOVE my hubby!
I love my kids too.
And I suspect, despite my hot date tonight, that I am going to miss them!
A little.

Walking and stuff
Here's my baby. He started taking steps at 9 1/2 months and now is walking pretty much everywhere. He is definitely the earliest walker of my kids, by like 3 months!

He will be 11 months on Valentine's day. He says Mama, Dada, Uh-oh, and Hi. He just started clapping, it's so cute. He LOVES Jenna and Carter. He HATES baby food. And he LOVES getting into EVERYTHING.
Just some random pictures.

Look at that sulking face.

Playing with pillows.

Carter told me to take a picture of him. This is what he did.

ANNNND here are some spaghetti pictures of Logan... you have to take spaghetti pictures.

Here's my little Jenna's spaghetti pictures.

And here is Carter at about the same age as Logan. Where does the time go??!!

That is all.

Flashback!
I found some old pictures that I stole for my wedding video 6 years ago and apparently never returned to their albums. There are some good ones...
Check out my dad's mustache. Oh yeah, my mom is like 20 here. CCCCRAZY!

Wow could my mom's hair get any bigger. Ha ha!!

This is me and my brother Bryce. Don't I look happy. To tell you the truth I actually didn't mind being the oldest of 6 kids at all. Sure, I babysat a lot but I really liked taking care of them. Maybe that is why I can handle my own little monkeys.

This is me in the Big Apple feeding some pigeons. I'd love to go back... seeing as I can't remember a thing about it!

Yeah, so, like I said in the last post I cannot dance. But here is proof that I did try... I actually took ballet and tap. It didn't last long, because I thought my teacher was MEAN. Maybe if she had been nicer, I would be able to DANCE now!

Ha ha, I love this. So this is me and my two brothers. They are wearing my dad's shirts as pajamas (I am loving the off-the-shoulder look, Neil.) And what are we holding? Tomahawks. That's right. My dad crafted some tomahawks for us in his woodshop. I don't know if you asked for a tomahawk as a kid but apparently we did. What an awesome dad.

This is one of my favorite pictures of my brothers, sister, and me. Sure we fought a lot but we definitely had some good times.

Okay. So my mom wanted a family picture. Calls up Target and asks if they do family pictures. Sure! They said. And so, I give you....

The Photobooth Family Portrait!!!! I can't believe we actually had this blown up and hanging on our wall. I mean, look at us all squished in that studio. Makes me laugh.
I love this picture.

Look at my mommy snuggling her baby. Now I do that with all my kids. Snuggling my kids is the best. I sometimes wonder if they will remember how many loves and kisses I give them. I wonder if they will remember those extra cuddles I give them at night. So I guess I need to take pictures like this of me and my kids so that they KNOW their mom can't get enough of them. I want them to know that NO MATTER what happened that day, every night when I see them fast asleep in their beds I say to myself, "I love those kids." Sappy but true.
Wasn't that fun! Maybe next time I will introduce you to "Awkward Stage Erika." And in preparation, let me just give you a quick visual: Buck teeth... with some braces slapped right on... some really poofy bangs... Fun stuff!
